Long time no write.
I'm finding it (as anyone who actually still remembers me will know) quite difficult to finish 'Mine'.
But I do have a good portion of words for chapter 9 actually written. And so I was thinking, for anyone who reads this and wants to see, I'll post what I have written up here. :)

He hadn't been lying when he'd said he was tired, but, though lying in bed, Golf couldn't get to sleep. It had been approximately an hour since he'd settled down, but no matter what he did to try and relax, he stayed awake. His body was tired; his body was absolutely exhausted, but his mind was alive and buzzing and he couldn't settle it down. He couldn't get Yamapi's nervous, disappointed face and Mike's unintentionally hopeful voice out of his head. His thoughts were too loud, too bright, in the dark, silent room.

Golf had always found it difficult to do one thing when he knew he should really be doing another. And in this case, he didn't feel like he'd be able to sleep until he'd made a decision. But that could mean he wouldn't get to sleep at all. This sort of thing wasn't something he could decide in the space of just one night; these were real adult issues, and he was still just a teenager.
He would, he decided, leave it for one more day - just one - and see what happened before making any decisions. He couldn't make a mistake if all he was doing was observing, after all.

Finally having found a plan of action he was satisfied with, Golf managed to drift off into an uneasy sleep.
The next day passed, and Golf observed just as he'd planned. Then the next. And the next. The days turned into a week, then two, then three. And he still hadn't made any decisions.

Yamapi had assured them from the beginning that 'Fever to Future' would top the Oricon Singles Chart on its first day, but it was still a buzz for the brothers when they were told the statistics officially; that yes, from the statistics that had been gathered, it looked as though they were definitely going to debut at number one.
At the time, Golf, dressed only in his pajama pants, was brushing his teeth, and so Mike, sharing a room with him this time around, was the one to get the phone call from their translator. He'd run into the bathroom, and practically leapt onto his brother's back while telling him the news.

They'd laughed and hugged, and Golf's mouth had still been full of toothpaste, and he'd accidentally gotten some on Mike in his excitement. That had been kind of gross, but they'd both been too happy to care. It wasn't quite the same as actually seeing the single at number one, but it was pretty much a guarantee that it would be after the official day of release was upon them.

Yamapi had greeted them both with a big grin - the sort that the media never showed him with, in order to hide his less than perfect bottom teeth - already knowing what was up before either of them had a chance to explain why they were outside his room. It took about a quarter of an hour for them to calm down, and it was only then that they realized that Golf was still shirtless, while Mike had gotten dressed so hastily that he was wearing the same T-shirt as yesterday, inside-out.
During the past few weeks, Golf had actually managed to push the situation with his brother and Yamapi to the back of his mind; with promoting their single, magazine shoots and the volleyball tournaments continuing, he was able to forget about personal problems for a while.

But when Yamapi had opened the door and congratulated them in bad English, he'd stepped forward and made as if he were about to hug Mike. Then he'd faltered mid-motion, eyes flickering towards Golf, before he changed the almost-hug into a pat on the shoulder.
It was a little awkward, and Mike, almost as if on instinct to try and retain the excited mood, had pulled both his brother and Yamapi into a group hug.

This was nice, was the first thought that flittered through Golf's mind. The three of them, celebrating their... their victory, wasn't it? This victory that they'd worked for and achieved together. And in the few seconds between the time he had this thought, and before the hug ended, he thought that maybe he liked this feeling. The feeling that, right now, they weren't just Golf and Mike and Yamapi. They were GYM. And when they pulled apart, while the spots on his body that Mike had been pressed against were tingling in that warm, familiar way they always did, Golf found that the places where Yamapi had touched him felt the same.

And then Yamapi smiled at them again, and Golf's heart fluttered.
He wondered if this meant what he thought it did.

Mike noticed the changes in his brother almost immediately. It wasn't a matter of Golf being obvious about it or anything; it was just because Mike had never known a life without him. He knew more about his brother, had shared more with his brother, than any other person on this earth, and so sudden changes in the little details stood out quite clearly to him.

At first Mike told himself to make sure he wasn't seeing something that wasn't there. For the past three weeks, he'd been looking for a sign that maybe - just maybe - Golf could be open to the idea of both of them and Yamapi all together. In Mike's young mind, it all made perfect sense. He loved his brother, but he loved Yamapi too, and he wouldn't ever want to be forced to choose between them. Admittedly, if - when? - that time came, he knew who he'd pick. But for now, he wasn't being forced to make a choice, and he was certain that Yamapi didn't want to be forced either.

And so, after three careful weeks of over-analyzing every little detail of his brother's behaviour towards Yamapi, and hoping and wishing, Mike knew he had to make sure that he wasn't just seeing what he wanted to see.

Thanks for this. I've always loved the story, so it's nice to see a bit of revival, as it were. :)
